I have been going back and forth with myself about participating in Camp NaNoWriMo and today I decided I would go ahead and bite the hypothetical bullet and signed up. This year the nano group is hosting CampNaNo in June and also in August but I am only going to participate in June (as of now). I did so well for NaNoWriMo in November that I decided I would do it again and spend next month writing. Really writing. I want to make goal and finish but I may not be as hardcore as I was/am for November. I will be working on book 2 of the Cerise Saga. With goals, I am motivated to push forward and plus I have a semi-competitive spirit. Actually, I can't play board games with my friends. I enjoy motivating and being motivated. June...ahhh...only 8 days away! It is true that I already have 5500 words towards my WIP but my personal goal is 60k so as it stands I need 55k. Woohoo! Pretty excited that there is no need to come up with a basic story line.
I owe a lot to NaNaWriMo. If I am ever making millions ....NaNaWriMo will be getting a big fat check from me. I learned a lot about my habits and made many friends who word sprinted with me for hours. If I would not have participated in November and completed After the Woods then it is possible I may not have been published so quickly. A big thank you goes to Curiosity Quills also!
There are many people who say how horrible nano is because the goal is about word count and nothing else. Well sir, I would like to challenge that by saying I work well under pressure and without NaNo in November my novel may have never been completed.
