The countdown to #NaNoWriMo

NaNoWriMo is such an exciting time of the year! There are only 3 days left until November 1st.
The weather is getting colder, the leaves are falling. Fall and pre-winter always means nano time!

If you aren't sure what NaNoWriMo is then let me fill you in. It is a month long writing competition that lasts from November 1st - November 30th. The goal is to write a 50k novel in 30 days. While that sounds completely crazy, it is totally do-able! The novel obviously won't be publishable directly afterwards. That's when the revision and editing stage begins but you will have your first draft! Without NaNo, I don't know if I would have completed my first draft in 2011. I stepped out of my comfort zone, met tons of really awesome writers, and was declared a winner! If it weren't for NaNo, I would not be a soon-to-be published author!

Every Friday through November, Thea Isis (my fellow nano-virtuosos winner) and I are posting our NaNoWriMo Tips and Tricks on the curiosityquills blog on how to survive nano 2012!

Two pre-nano entries have been posted!

Outlining:

Thea and I talk about how we outline or don't!

Character Sketching:

What to put in character sketches!

So how many of you are participating in NaNo 2012? I haven't decided yet. I have so much to do right now that I don't think I can write.
1. Finish Editing ATW
2. Finish recording WF
3. Beta read for Fel
4. Finish reading a novel for review
5. Ongoing NaNo Blog Project
6. Help my minions for the Haunted Writing Clinic and Contest!

So much to do....

  1. Busy time of year, I know! Not to mention the holidays! Whew!

I loved your suggestions for my first page and query. I'm just afraid my manuscript would not be ready by the 31st. So. I'm not for sure what to do. If I did get a request, that would be awesome. But if I need that much editing, the request wouldn't go far once the editor read my request.

What ot do, what to do!?!

    1. There is no reason to rush the whole process! Even the greatest writers have to go through revisions! Your first novel should happen organically.... I think your story is great! It's different and interesting. If you submit then woohoo and if you dont then still woohoo! It's only going to get better from this point on!
